About The Game

An outing to the cinema takes an unexpected turn, when you wake up in the theatre and realize you slept through the movie. The crowd is gone, and so is your friend. Explore a cinema that may seem like the rest, but is anything but ordinary.

Warp Cinema is a bite-size text-parser adventure game made for Adventure Jam 2023 and takes about 10-15 minutes to play through. The game was done in about 10 days. If people find it fun and interesting, I might work on it more and create a longer version.

Game Features

• An AGI-like text-parser adventure game

• Features the  classic EGA palette & displayed in a crisp 320x200 resolution

• An eerie cinema, and an even eerier bedroom

• Quirky humor

• Explore, collect items, and solve puzzles!

How to Play

Initiate movement by pressing and releasing a directional key. Type your commands and press enter to have them processed.

This game took me back in time to playing Sierra games on my old family PC! Excellent work!!! :D

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! :)

Of course!! I'll have to check out more of your games!

Nice short adventure game and the plot is spooky! Although I stuck in the bedroom, as I was using "DRINK SODA" and not "OPEN SODA" (?) to get the cork... Cheers.

*Spoilers*

Cheers! 'Drink soda' has you drink a bit of the soda but not get the cork. There are other commands to directly refer to the cork.

Perhaps this screenshot gives a hint for getting closer to the hidden message 😀

Congratulations! :) The reward for being the first to find the message has already been claimed - but it's great to see people are still finding it! :)

Just played this one and I'm amazed it was developed in 10 days!

The gameplay is awesome, I love this kind of text adventures, although I'm not good at english, specially the name of things. I have to confess, I needed a walkthrough video at one point to keep moving forward 😅.

I liked the score system to see your progress and being able to move the character around. And the soundtrack is delightful

Thanks dude! I love making text-parser games. Sierra's AGI games are some of my favorites. :)

15 minutes short nostalgic fun (for those who started their gaming career with 640kB RAM at most)! Well done!

Cheers! Glad you enjoyed the game! :)

That was a lot of fun. It's funny how the incorporating snacks and a familiar setting really engages the senses. I really want some popcorn and ...apricot mint gum now.  I'd play a longer version now that you have me wondering what's next with the movie.

Appreciate the kind words. Thank you for sharing!

Boy, I miss boomboxes with decent tape decks ...

This is the crispest 320x200 resolution I've seen in a long time.

I was immediately sold on your game when I saw the cover. An oldschool parser? Without dead ends and silly, unpredictable deaths every five seconds? Yes please!

You really nailed the feel of the old Sierra games. It looks awesome. The puzzles weren't outlandish, but they weren't too easy either. I never got stuck, so the game had a really nice flow for me. And I liked the slightly unsettling tone of the story. Very enjoyable game. :)

Very glad you liked the game. Thanks so much for the kind words! I too greatly enjoyed your entry - but I may have forgotten to leave a comment, so I'll do so right now!

Great!! I like it a lot!! It remembers me to old 80-90s computer games :D Good job working on it!!

I always enjoy the art, music and writing in your games, and this was no exception. A fun and polished little game :)

Thanks, very glad you enjoyed the game! You can view your inventory by pressing TAB (as said in the help section in the game and here on the game's Itch page).

Ah! Sorry. Clearly, I missed that. My bad. I'll edit my original comment.

Pure nostalgia! It was short and fun to play your game! The graphics look like you once worked for Sierra in the 80s. The puzzles make sense. Your game made me smile, but I don't want to spoiler why. A typical sci-fi Cosmic Void game! :)

Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed the game! :)

Excellent game! Had many snacks you could buy at the concession stand.  A nostalgic movie theater experience :-)

(+1)

Glad you enjoyed it! You can buy at least 4 different things at the snack bar. :)

What engine are you using to make the game?

The game was made using GameMaker. Sorry, I was sure I replied to this earlier!

Another cosmic void game, agi-like with text parser:  awesome

Thanks dude! :)

Wow that was quick, nice! How would you like to be mentioned on the game's page? I'll put you down as BrocantyGames, but if you prefer another name I'll change it.

And glad you enjoyed the game! :)
